Books in my TBR pile …
I can’t believe that it’s March already. Spring will be here before you know it.
So today, I thought I would share some books in my TBR pile that I’m looking forward to reading this spring. Note that the descriptions are from Amazon:
The #1 New York Times Bestseller
Graceling meets The Selection in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard’s sweeping tale of seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king’s palace. Will her power save her or condemn her?
Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood–those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.
To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard–a growing Red rebellion–even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.
The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine
A dark epic fantasy inspired by the tale of Snow White, from C. J. Redwine, the author of the Defiance series. Perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and Cinder.
Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large, has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. To do that, Lorelai needs to use the one weapon she and Queen Irina have in common—magic. She’ll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.
In the neighboring kingdom of Eldr, when Prince Kol’s father and older brother are killed by an invading army of magic-wielding ogres, the second-born prince is suddenly given the responsibility of saving his kingdom. To do that, Kol needs magic of his own—and the only way to get it is to make a deal with the queen of Ravenspire, promise to become her personal huntsman—and bring her Lorelai’s heart.
But Lorelai is nothing like Kol expected—beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable—and despite dark magic, Lorelai is drawn in by the passionate and troubled king. Fighting to stay one step ahead of the dragon huntsman—who she likes far more than she should—Lorelai does everything in her power to ruin the wicked queen. But Irina isn’t going down without a fight, and her final move may cost the princess the one thing she still has left to lose.
In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble–as two desperate young women know all too well.
What about you guys? What books are in your TBR pile? What books are you looking forward to reading this spring?
Among the 10 books I’m currently reading is The Diabolical Miss Hyde by Viola Carr, and the sequel, The Devious Dr. Jekyll, is waiting once I finish the first book. I also have Time’s Divide by Rysa Walker waiting.
I’ve heard good things about the Viola Carr series. I keep meaning to check those out.
I’ve loved what I’ve read so far. Carr has an interesting way of alternating between the POVs of Eliza Jekyll and Lizzie Hyde — but I’ll let you find out more for yourself.
And I just picked up William Shatner’s latest book — it’s about his friendship with Leonard Nimoy. So that’s also on my TBR pile now.
Hi Jennifer,
Long time no “see”. Lol.
I’m reading Jeaniene’s Frost’s This Side of the Grave right now, and then I’m going to read Tananarive Due’s The Good House. 🙂 Then a book by Jennifer Estep. 😉
Hey! Hope you are doing well. I need to catch up on Jeaniene Frost’s books/series. I am way behind on those.
