I have to agree that I like the comic covers better. But I think that’s just because it was the original release that I fell in love with. Don’t get me wrong, the other covers are nice, but I like the old ones better.
Oh yeah, I just finish Lisa Kleypas Blue Eyed Devil. Be warned: very near to the beginning of the book there is a scene that you will detest. And at that point I’m not sure you will want to finish reading it.
Yeah, me too. But I don’t have any control over the cover art. That’s up to my publisher.
A scene I will hate? Hmm. You’ve interested me. 😎
Does it involve Hardy being an ass? Just curious. It’ll be a while before I get to that book. I need to request it from the library the next time I’m there …
The scene I’m referring to has nothing to do with Hardy. Hardy is actually less ass like in this book. Don’t get my wrong he does something stupid toward the end, but that’s just hardy for you.
No the scene I’m referring to is between Haven and another character. I can’t say who without giving away some major plot in the first part of the book. I will say this, you hate this type of scene and you’ve disliked entire books because of it. I will say that the book probably wouldn’t be the same without the scene, but to me it’s a bit harsh.
Well I went to Amazon and read the description to refresh my memory of what the book’s about. So it’s an abusive scene, right? Those sort of scenes don’t make me automatically hate a book. It’s what the author does with them and their aftermath that really matters to me. The scenes have to serve some point, even if it’s just to show me what a psychopath the killer is — or how strong the heroine is to overcome such a thing.
If anything, I’m even more interested to see how Kleypas gives Hardy and Haven their HEA. Because Hardy was such an ass in Sugar Daddy, and it sounds like Haven has a lot of issues to overcome. But Kleypas pulled it off with Sebastian in Devil in Winter, so I have faith in her. :joecool:
You have a point there. The scene I’m referring to is a bit harsh to me. But in the end, that scene is what makes Haven the person she is.
Whenever you get around to reading the book, we’ll discuss. I’ve made notes so that when I take it back to the library, I’ll remember what I wanted to mention 🙂
I’ll reqest it from the library. Not sure how long it will take them. In the meantime, I’ve got to get through some books Wheezley (the significant other) gave me …
