Holiday reads …
It seems like holiday books have been out in the stores since late September (or before). But now that November is here, I’m finally in the mood to read some holiday stories, especially when it comes to romance. I’m also totally addicted to all the holiday rom-com movies on the Hallmark Channel.
Here are some of the holiday books that I’m hoping to read this year. Note: The descriptions are from Goodreads.
Western Christmas Proposals by Carla Kelly, Kelly Boyce, and Carol Arens — available now
A RING, A KISS AND A CHRISTMAS WISH
THREE DELICIOUS SEASONAL STORIES
CHRISTMAS DANCE WITH THE RANCHER by Carla Kelly
Stranded, Katie becomes chore girl on Ned Avery’s ranch. He shows her unexpected kindnessand in exchange, she teaches him how to dance!
CHRISTMAS IN SALVATION FALLS by Kelly Boyce
Willa Stanford moved to Salvation Falls to start afresh, but then the past—in the shape of her former sweetheart—arrives at her door.
THE SHERIFF’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL by Carol Arens
When widower Roy Garner falls for lovely Belle Key, he’s hoping for a very happy Christmas. Until he discovers Belle’s dark secret…
The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis — available now
If she has her way . . .
Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her . . .
He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.
Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him . . .
Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice . . .
Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work . . .
Christmas in Destiny by Toni Blake — available now
“Go to Destiny. There’s something waiting there for you.”
Shane Dalton’s new life is waiting in Miami, complete with fast cars and faster women. But first, he’s heeding his father’s dying words and stopping off in Destiny, Ohio. The detour wasn’t supposed to include a busted pickup and a blizzard. But Candice Sheridan, the cute redhead who reluctantly offers shelter, could prove a pleasant diversion. Trouble is, she thinks Shane’s bad news. And he’s pretty sure she’s right . . .
Candice had her trust broken once before. Yet something about Shane won’t let her stay away. By Christmas, he’ll be gone. Until then, she’s itching to stop playing nice and safe . . . and try being a little naughty for once.
As their holiday romance heats up, Shane uncovers a shattering secret and Candice is preparing to face heartache once again. But there’s no better place than Destiny—especially at Christmastime—for two lost souls to find the gift of sweet, surprising love . . .
One Snowy Night by Jill Shalvis — out on Nov. 8
It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.
Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.
They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.
Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan — out on Nov. 29
It will take a Christmas miracle for two very different souls to find each other in this perfectly festive fairy tale of New York!
Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she’s given an opportunity to house-sit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan? What she didn’t expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous—and mysterious—owner.
Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife’s death looming, he’s isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn’t appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?
What about you guys? Are you planning to read any holiday books this year?
I just finished the Sarah Morgan title… so cute. I’ve also read both Jill Shalvis books you mentioned. If you want a Christmas quickie… I really liked Holiday with a Twist by Shannon Stacey which comes out soon from Carina Press. Enjoy!
I need to read Sunset in Central Park first before the new Christmas one. Maybe sometime over the weekend. I saw the Shannon Stacey one, and I’ve got that on my list too. That one looks cute. Who am I kidding? All the holiday romances look cute. 🙂
I’ve read One Snowy Night, but haven’t read The Trouble with Mistletoe yet. I desperately need books with humor in them right now, and Jill’s books are always good for that. Miracle on Fifth Avenue looks great also. Usually by this time of year I’m already off on Xmas romance binge reading but this year I just haven’t been in the mood.
Yeah, I’m in the mood for some lighter reads right now too. I haven’t had a chance to read THE TROUBLE WITH MISTLETOE yet. Maybe over Thanksgiving weekend. I’ve also been watching a lot of Hallmark movies lately, which are sort of like comfort reads (only on TV) for me.
