Movies, movies, movies …
Is it just me, or are there a lot of good-looking movies coming out this year? I don’t go to the theater all that much, maybe two or three times a year, and usually just to see the Marvel superhero movies or the latest James Bond movie. It’s just easier to stream a movie or get the DVD.
But this year, there are several movies that I want to see in the theater. Here are some of them, and I’ve linked to some of the trailers as well:
The LEGO Batman Movie — Feb. 10 — This looks really fun. If it is half as entertaining as the trailers have been, it will be one of the best Batman movies ever.
Beauty and the Beast — March 17 — The original animated Beauty and the Beast is one of my all-time favorite movies. I hope this one is just as good.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — May 5 — The first movie was so much fun, and this looks like more of the same. I’m also hoping that the soundtrack is as good as it was for the first movie. Plus, is there anything more adorable than Baby Groot?
Wonder Woman — June 2 — We are finally getting a Wonder Woman movie. Enough said.
Spider-Man: Homecoming — July 7 — I’m not a huge Spider-Man fan, but I enjoyed his appearance in Captain America: Civil War. And I like the fact that this is not another origin-story movie but rather Spider-Man already being Spider-Man.
Dunkirk — July 21 — Wheezley really likes World War II movies, and he wants to go see this. Me too. It’s based on a true story, and it looks really intense.
Thor: Ragnarok — Nov. 3 — Thor isn’t my favorite Marvel character, and the other Thor movies are just so-so. But Tom Hiddleston is always great in these, which is one of the main reasons why I watch them.
Justice League — Nov. 17 — I did not like Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and I’m hoping that this one is much better. At the very least, it looks like it has a much lighter and a much more fun tone.
What about you guys? What movies are you looking forward to this year?
If you haven’t seen Hidden Figures, you should go see it. I went to see it in the theater rather than waiting for it on Netflix because I want to support this type of movie and let the studios know that there is an audience for it. It was absolutely fantastic. The story was inspiring, the acting was great, and best of all, it’s all true. These women are just an amazing inspiration for all of us. I wish it would win the Best Picture Oscar, but I don’t think it will.
I definitely want to watch Hidden Figures, although I’m not sure that I’ll get to the theater to watch it or not. But I’m planning to check it out on DVD. It’s gotten such rave reviews, and it’s such a fascinating story.
I also want to see La La Land, but I’m not sure that it will play anywhere near me. Another one to watch for on DVD.
Sorry just can’t get into the Lego movies and Beauty and the Beast has been done SSSOOOO many times that i sold my tea pot. Definitely agree with the rest of your list and have 2 to add. I’ve already got tickets for a privet screening of Logan. For Wheezley, Hacksaw Hill is also based on a true story. Catch you at the Movies.
I want to see Logan too, although I’ll probably wait for that one on DVD. The X-Men movies are very hit or miss for me. My favorite X-Men movie is the very first one.
Hidden Figures, definitely. I don’t go to the theater much, either. I buy and stream the movies that I like or want to see. I’m looking forward to Avengers: Infinity War but I don’t think that’s coming out till next year. Black Widow should have her own movie. I really like Scarlett Johansen’s(sp?) portrayal of her. Looking forward to the Wonder Woman movie. I’ve seen a trailer and it looks really interesting. I’m probably missing something so I hope others chime away.
Yeah, Infinity War isn’t out until 2018. But I am looking forward to the other Marvel movies this year — Guardians, Spider-Man, and Ragnarok.
I would love a Black Widow movie. I’m hoping Marvel finally does one of those sometime in the next few years.
