Gargoyle Queen series
The Gargoyle Queen series focuses on Gemma Ripley, the crown princess of Andvari.
As a girl, Crown Princess Gemma Ripley of Andvari survived the horrific Seven Spire massacre, an event that is never far from her mind, despite her cheerful demeanor. Now, 16 years later, Gemma is known as “Glitzma”, a pampered princess who travels to various kingdoms on the Buchovian continent, going to parties, shaking hands, and performing other inane courtly duties. But her traveling ambassador role is just a cover for Gemma’s secret spy missions.
When a series of troubling incidents occur along the Andvari-Morta border, Gemma travels to the city of Blauberg to investigate in hopes of preventing a war between the two kingdoms. But Gemma finds far more danger than she bargains for — along with a boy from her past, a childhood enemy who has grown into a dangerous man, one who just might be the death of her this time …
Books in the series are: Capture the Crown #1 — Tear Down the Throne #2 — Conquer the Kingdom #3
Note #1: Gemma Ripley was first introduced in Kill the Queen, book #1 in my original Crown of Shards series. Gemma was 12 years old then; in the new series, she is 28 years old.
Some of the characters from my original Crown of Shards will make cameo appearances in the new series, but this is very much Gemma’s story.
Note #2: I’ve gotten some questions about the book genre. Capture the Crown and all the other books set in my Crown of Shards world are adult epic fantasy — NOT YA fantasy.
There is sex, language, and violence in Capture the Crown and the other books, just like there is in my Elemental Assassin series.
That being said, if you like my YA books, especially my Mythos Academy series, you will probably enjoy this one too. There are some nods to Roman, Norse, and other mythologies in the book, but this is much more of an adult read than my YA series. And like all my other books/series, Capture the Crown features a strong heroine, lots of action/fight scenes, a hint of romance, and magic/worldbuilding, among other things.
Note: Works listed as stories are generally 10,000 words or less. E-novellas are more than 10,000 words, while books are generally 85,000 words or more (young adult books) or 90,000 words or more (adult books).
