And here’s another shot of me at Mountain Empire Comics on Saturday.
You know, I really need to figure out how to just post a picture and cutlines. Anybody out there know how to do that? Inquiring minds want to know …

Here’s a shot of me with everyone’s favorite webcrawler, Spider-Man. This was taken during my booksigning Saturday at Mountain Empire Comics in Bristol, Tenn. It was also Free Comics Day.
Thanks to Lev Arris for passing these along, and for Robert Pilk for having me at the store on Saturday.Â
For those of you who don’t know, I do an e-mail newsletter about once every six weeks or so. One section is reading recommendations, and I ask folks to write in with good reads. Today, I thought I’d share some cool superhero books that Michele Hart recommended:
“How To Be a SuperHero” by Doctor Metropolis: No superhero should miss this. It includes everything from the most powerful superhero workouts, including the very important Hysterical Tiger Pose, when you fall to your knees and commence anguish raving to the Heavens “NOOOOOO!” or the alternative “WHYYYYY????” to Choosing the Arch-Enemy That’s Right For You.
And if you are considering a life of SuperCrime: “How To Be a Villain” by Neil Zawacki. With its extensive coverage of important Evil Laughs, Secret Lairs, all the way to the Making of your Evil Plan.
Thanks for sharing, Michele!
What about you? Got any superhero books you’d recommend? Inquiring minds want to know …
Well, I did three booksignings Saturday and sold a grand total of 40 books. Not too shabby (although I must confess that a lot of those sales were to friends and family members). I’ll try to post some pictures soon.
It was pretty much what I expected. Good, bad, and a little ugly all rolled together. Some of the signings went better than others. I had a lot of interest at my local library and comic book store (and sold more books there). Some folks even wanted to have their picture taken with me, which was really cool.
Not so much interest at Barnes & Noble. I should have just set up a radio, and let it play “Walk on By” for two hours, because that’s what people were doing to me. And, yes, I got the do-you-work-here question more than once. Nobody asked me where the bathroom was, though.
And, of course, I chose this weekend of all weekends to get a head cold. I was not feeling well by the time the day was over with. Ah, well. It’s all part of being an author, I suppose.
I’ve got more stuff set up for this week. On Tuesday, May 8, I’ll be at Madagascar Coffee Co. in Kingsport, Tenn. from 5:30-7:30 p.m. I’ll be signing books, answering questions about writing and publishing, and hopefully doing a reading, if my throat will let me. Hope to see you there!
What about you? What did you think of your first booksignings? Inquiring minds want to know …
So, I went to my local Barnes & Noble last night for my book club meeting … and Karma Girl was on the shelf! Right between Sexy Beast II and Hurts So Good. A couple folks got a chuckle out of that.
They had six copies of Karma Girl out, and my peeps were nice enough to buy four of them. A few people looked at us strangely because I was signing books in the back of the store, but oh well. Thanks, ladies, I hope you enjoy the book! 😎
