If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right …
They’re making an A-Team movie! It is sad how insanely happy this makes me. The movie will probably be terrible, as so many of the television show movie remakes have been in recent years (The Dukes of Hazzard, anyone?), but I’ll be one of the first people in line to see it.
Which brings me to my topic of the day — guilty pleasures.
We all have them. Books and movies and television shows that we love, even if they’re not considered hip and cool by other folks. I thought I’d share some of mine in the next few posts, starting with television shows.
Now, you know of my love of The A-Team. I also have to admit that I’m a Matlock junkie. I’ll watch it anytime it’s on — even if I’ve seen the episode before. I just love trying to figure out who the killer is before the end. I’ll also watch Murder, She Wrote and the Perry Mason television movies on occasion, but I like Matlock much better. Probably because it’s set in the South. And Andy Griffith is a lot funnier than Angela Lansbury and Raymond Burr.
I usually catch Matlock on Sunday afternoons, during the Hallmark Channel’s Crimetime Sunday marathons, which I am also becoming addicted to. Murder mysteries and crime shows. All. Day. Long!
I also like Walker, Texas Ranger (also shown on the Hallmark Channel, curiously enough). Sure, it’s a cheesy action show, and Chuck Norris basically has one expression. But hey — I love me some cheesy action. It’s kind of fun when the dialogue is so cliched you can quote it before the character does.
And I will always watch the Project Runway marathons on Bravo, no matter how many times I’ve seen the episodes already. It’s a sickness, I know. But I also love me some fashion throwdowns.
What about you? Got a guilty pleasure or television show you love? Share in the comments.
Guilty pleasures? Lifetime movies and anything true-crime related. (Forensic Files, anyone?)
A-Team movie??? I am officially excited! I’ll be in line for that right behind Jen!
According to most of the world, romance novels are a guilty pleasure. I just don’t feel guilty about them 🙂
Amy — I forgot about your love of Kathy Reich and the forensics stuff. But Lifetime movies? You’ve never revealed that dark, twisted obsession before. Where’s Amy and what have you done with her? :bubbles:
Jody — Neither do I. 😎
If you think about it, most Lifetime movies involve a silly crime or injustice, so it’s not that far off. And the titles are always so amusing that I just need to find out what exactly is “A Mother’s Peril” or “Injustice” or whatever they are putting the poor, idiot woman through that week.
Amy — Watching the He Beat Me channel? You are a sick, twisted individual. 😎
One of my favorite shows, that I haven’t seen in at least 10 years, is Sheriff Lobo. Of course I liked BJ and the Bear too, but Sheriff Lobo is a classic guilty pleasure.
Do think that the A-Team movie will be a dark and serious movie? I don’t think they could capture the fun of the show, so I would imagine that will be the direction.
I love the Matlock and Murder She Writes shows. I’m glad I’m not the only one who watches them. This last Project Runway was the first I’ve watched. And the last. I was really upset that they chose Christian. Yes, he’s talented, but who would wear his creations except for Disney villianesses? Except for a couple of his runway outfits, they looked unflattering even on the tall, skinny models.
Brian — I’ve never heard of Sheriff Lobo. I remember BJ and the Bear, but I don’t remember ever watching it. I did catch reruns of The Fall Guy with Lee Majors. And, of course, The Dukes of Hazzard is another one I watched (and still do occasionally on CMT).
I hope they don’t make the A-Team movie too dark and series. But I hope they don’t make it a complete spoof either (like the Starsky & Hutch remake with Ben Stiller). I’d be happy with a solid action movie with some nods to the original series. We’ll see …
Edie — I liked Rami’s collection the best. His looked like clothes real people would wear. But I think Christian won because he showed the most talent and creativity throughout the show. But that feather dress he designed — oh my. I wouldn’t be caught dead in that thing!
Sheriff Lobo was a spin off of BJ and the Bear.
